William (Bill) Hornaday (Chair): Mr. William Hornaday is a petroleum engineer with over 44 years of international experience. He holds a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering and an Institute of Corporate Directors, Certified Corporate Director Designation (ICD.D), both through the University of Calgary. He has worked in North America, India,Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand Indonesia, Iraq and Australia. Mr. Hornaday has extensive experience in all aspects of operations, including project management, production, facilities, drilling and business development. Since December 2016, Bill has been the CEO of Niko Resources and since 2018, Bill has been working with Global Energy Ventures, an Australian company based in Perth W.A., to develop and deliver marine CNG solutions to global gas markets. In early 2019, Bill became President of Global Gas Ventures Pty. Ltd., and is a director of GEV Canada Corporation. Bill is also key shareholder and Chairman of two private oil and gas companies operating in Canada and the US.
Mr. Wain has over 44 years of international experience in the UK North Sea, Gabon, Indonesia, Sudan, Iraq, Algeria, Egypt and Western Canada. His career has been diverse, ranging from oilfield exploration and development, to geological field studies in remote jungle locations for both mining and oil companies in Indonesia. He holds a Master's degree in Petroleum Geology (1977) from Imperial College, London and an MSc.(eqv.) CFSG Diploma in Geostatistics (2002) from the École des Mines de Paris, Fontainebleau, France. He began his career at Phillips Petroleum, specialising in "turbidite" style reservoirs, where his last well, tested at over 11,500 bopd (cum). From Phillips he joined Elf Aquitaine (1980) and spent the next four years in Gabon, before moving on to Southeast Asia where he worked with Clough Engineering (Petrosea), Elf Indonesie, Enterprise Oil, Bow Valley (Asia) and Talisman Energy before moving to Canada with Talisman in 1996. He continued to work on international projects, before joining Talisman's Corporate Specialists group in 2002. In 2007 he founded ZinMac Inc. with Sean Hayes, as a specialist 3D geomodelling start-up, which evaluated projects in Thailand and Iraq, before successfully promoting and participating in a Gabon farm-in, in 2008, which only stalled-out because of the 2009 World financial crisis. In 2010 he joined Madison PetroGas (now SDX Energy) as V.P. Exploration, working on Gabon and then Cameroon and Egypt. In Egypt, he was primarily responsible for the discovery of the Meseda Field, onshore Gulf of Suez; going from 0 to over 9,000 gross BOEPD in less than three years. In 2013 he became involved with a private business venture with Conoco-Phillips doing a field geology project in Central Kalimantan" (photo) before returning to Gabon pursuits from 2014 onward. He founded Capitaine Energy Inc., in June 2017 with previous associates.
Professor Mike Bowman retired from BP in March 2011 after 30+ years; at his retirement he was BP’s Functional and Global Head of Geoscience and also Vice President for Major Capital Projects/New Field Development Appraisal. He is currently an Honorary Professor in the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Manchester. Between 2015-17 he was the Chair of the Petroleum Engineering Programme at Texas A&M University, Qatar. In 2012 he was the President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, an eminent group with a membership of over 5500. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society of London. During his career with BP Mike had a range of roles from specialist geologist to senior leadership with postings to the United States and Aberdeen and extended periods working in in a range of hydrocarbon basins from the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico to the Former Soviet Union and West Africa, ultimately retiring in a Group Leadership role as Global Head of Geoscience and Vice President for Major Capital Projects/New Field Development Appraisal. His experience and expertise lies across the upstream value chain from new business development through exploration to development and production; he also had senior leadership roles in technology. Mike is currently a non-executive Director for Radioactive Waste Management UK PLC as well as a trustee for the Yorkshire Geological Society and the River Holme Connections Charity in the UK. Mike advises and consults as well as teaching technical and leadership courses and giving lectures on a range of applied geology related topics and the energy Industry.
